Adopt

The Process

1. Visit Animals
Once you arrive at our location, feel free to visit with our cats and dogs. We encourage you to spend as much time as necessary to make the right choice for you and the pet. Our Adoption Counselor volunteer will give you as much background and behavioral information as is available. (Many of our animals are strays and other than the observance of volunteers and staff we have no former knowledge.) When you have decided on the right pet for you and your lifestyle, fill out an Adoption Application.  Please note that to be an eligible adopter, we do require that all other animals in the household be spayed and neutered.

2. Application
Answer the questions fully and honestly in order for Pets Come First to match you with the right pet. We want our adoptions to be forever. Once complete, the counselor will review your application with you. Please be patient, we ask questions only to ensure as close to a perfect match as possible.  Please note that to be an eligible adopter, we do require that all other animals in the household be spayed and neutered.

3. Sign Contract
After you have been approved for adoption the counselor will take you through the additional paperwork to complete the adoption. You will be asked to sign a contract. Please read the contract carefully. The counselor will review the vaccination and medical history of the pet and supply you with this information for you and your vet.

4. Adoption Fees
Our adoption fees vary according to the type of animal, and the age of the animal. The fee includes spay / neuter, a microchip, and updated vaccinations.  Microchips are automatically registered to new owners at the time of adoption.  Cats are tested for FIV/FeLV (feline leukemia / aids).  Dogs are 4DX tested for heartworm, lyme, and ehrlichia, and treated accordingly.

Cat Adoption Fees

  • Cats (1+ plus years) – $50
  • Kittens (under 1 year) – $75

Dog Adoption Fees
